What size do I need?
Calculating the length of wheelchair ramp required is very easy. Simply measure the total rise required i.e. if each step is 4 inches high and you have 2 steps then the total rise is 8 inches. Select what the ramp is going to be used for, and the width of ramp required, our 30 inch wide ramp is suitable for 90% of applications. If you are still unsure then please call our team who will be happy to assist you.
How long of a ramp should I buy?
Recommended Slope Angles:
> 7-degree: Manual wheelchair users without assistance
> 10-degree: Manual wheelchairs assisted
- An able assistant to help those users unable to do it alone
- OK for strong independent wheelchair users
> 12-degree: Power wheelchairs or scooters and assisted manual chairs
> 15-degree: Restricted space, Unoccupied loading/unloading
Determining Ramp Length:
Use your desired slope. Measure total rise (how many inches from lower level to upper level)
> 7-degree: Rise distance divided by 1.5
> 10-degree: Rise distance divided by 2
> 12-degree: Rise distance divided by 2.4
> 15-degree: Rise distance divided by 3
Example: For a desired slope of 7 degrees with a rise of 12" (1 foot), 12/1.5 = 8 foot ramp
